Brand Identity / Data Visualization / Graphic Design
The City of Portland and key partners are working to eliminate deaths and serious injuries on city streets—an initiative called Vision Zero.

In a year-long collaboration with the City, we created a brand, maps and data visualizations to understand and communicate 10-years worth of data in order to guide data-driven policy.

We worked hard to make the data feel relatable and human. First names of those who died rather than dots on the map below, help us feel more connected to the victims.

Analyzing the data visually helped us to discover new insights and to support those from the engineering and planning project partners.

Integrating infographics, maps, photographs, quotes and text enables audiences to engage in the material in different ways, based on their preferences and interests.

City staff leveraged the graphics to persuade State of Oregon lawmakers to enable Portland to reduce speed limits and utilize automated speed cameras.
